Moon In Astrology

A mystical principle of the universe indicating that the soul, even after departing from this mortal world, remains bound by its unfulfilled desires and passions. This unbroken bond thrusts the soul into the process of rebirth, and is known in the scriptures as the “mind principle”. All phenomena, including rebirth, arise as a result of deep desires, for desire is the force that is most effective in expressing itself and fulfilling purpose. Desires take birth only in the mind, and this is why the mind principle or mental energy (manasi shakti) is considered highly important in the study of the cosmic processes of creation and destruction.

The role of the moon is central in understanding the esoteric meanings of astrological principles, as it is considered the planet that governs the mind and mental energy.

The moon is considered the queen of the planetary kingdom and it rules over all the processes that are connected with creation, reproduction and growth. According to Vedic astrology, the strength of other planets in any horoscope depends on the position of the moon. If the Moon is weak in the birth chart, the chances of any major success in the person’s life are diminished.

The basis of great achievements and immense prosperity depends on special yogas (Raj Yoga) in astrology, which become effective when the Moon is correctly positioned. The importance of the Moon in traditional astrology can be understood from the fact that no prediction is considered complete unless the Moon Ascendant gives it strong support. The role of the Moon in keeping the foundation of astrological principles stable is so important that it can be seen more clearly and impressively than any other planet.
