Holi – The Inner Rainbow:
All colors are born from white light. And when too many colors mix together without harmony, they appear black. This simple truth of nature carries a deep message for our lives.
When the mind is white—calm, pure, silent, and aware—many colours can arise from it. From a peaceful mind, love can arise. Courage can arise. Joy can arise. Strength can arise. Just as white light contains every colour within it, a still mind contains every role we are meant to play.
Life is meant to be colourful.
Symbolic Colors of Life: A Journey Through Peace & Psychology
Each colour has its own beauty. Red has its fire. Blue has its depth. Yellow has its brightness. Green has its freshness. Every shade has meaning. But when all colors are mixed without awareness, they lose their uniqueness. Everything turns dark.
In the same way, we play many roles in life. We are parents, children, friends, workers, leaders, seekers. Each role has its own colour. Each role deserves its own space. The secret of a happy life is not to let these roles collide and confuse the heart. We must be able to step into each role fully, and then step out of it when the moment passes.
Psychological Mechanism of Colours: Mystic Colours of Consciousness
Between one role and another, we must rest.
When we do not rest, emotions from one situation spill into another. Anger from work enters the home. Fear from the past enters the present. Worry about tomorrow disturbs today. Slowly, the colours mix. The mind loses its clarity. Meditation is the return to white.
In meditation, we return to our original source. We rest in pure awareness. From that space, we can act without burden. We can love without fear. We can work without stress. We can speak without aggression. We become like a child playing with colors—joyful, free, and sincere.
This is the deeper teaching of Holi. It is not only a festival of outer colors. It is a reminder of our inner colors.
Scriptural Thrust: Mapping the Emotional Universe Within
We all know the story of Prahlad. It is not just a story of gods and demons. It is a story of the human heart.
Prahlad means deep joy and contentment. He represents innocence and faith. His father, Hiranyakashipu, represents ego and greed. Greed destroys happiness. Ego cannot tolerate simplicity. Even when joy lives in a home, greed enters and burns it down.
The ego always says, “I am separate. I am greater. I know everything.” It looks strong, but it is restless. It looks confident, but it is afraid. It wants control, praise, and power.
Prahlad, on the other hand, is peaceful. When asked, “Where is God?” he answers, “Everywhere.” This answer is not from logic. It comes from meditation. It comes from experience. It comes from a heart that has tasted silence.
Inner-Light Through Self-Awareness:
One comes from ego. The other comes from knowledge of the Self.
Ego-based confidence is loud. It wants to be seen. It depends on approval. Inside, it is fragile. When someone criticizes it, it breaks. When situations change, it collapses.
True self-confidence is quiet. It does not need to prove anything. It is stable and natural. It comes from knowing who you truly are—not the body, not the title, not the role—but the awareness behind them all.

In the story, when Hiranyakashipu strikes the pillar in anger, Narasimha emerges from it—an explosion of light and power. This symbolizes something very deep. Inside each of us, there is a pillar of ego. It stands tall and hard. It separates us from others. It says, “I am different. I am alone.”

When this pillar breaks, a new energy is released. That energy is courage without anger. Power without cruelty. Strength without pride. That energy is already within you.
Every human being carries many inner colors. In some, the flame of anger burns bright. In others, jealousy flickers quietly. Some glow with love. Some radiate peace. Some shine with wisdom.
Jealousy may be yellow. Love may feel blue and deep. Peace may feel soft and cool. Knowledge may feel like a royal purple light.
These colors keep changing. No emotion stays forever. The problem is not that emotions arise. The problem is that we forget we are not those emotions.Thoughts and feelings come and go like clouds in the sky. But we are the sky itself. The space within us holds everything. This inner space is silent and vast. It connects the inside and the outside. It is the witness of all experiences.
Yet, we rarely pause to observe. We act before we understand. We react before we reflect. Emotions rule the house while awareness waits at the door. Inner peace is like a watchman. It guards us. But when awareness—the true owner—enters, everything falls into place.
Nature holds every color. So does the human mind. Happiness, sadness, anger, excitement—they all arise naturally. When we are unconscious, we get lost in them. When we are aware, we enjoy them like colors thrown during Holi.
We laugh when red touches us. We smile when green covers us. We do not cling to one color. We allow it, and we let it pass.
The one who troubles you most is not another person. It is your own unobserved mind. When you believe you are your anger, you suffer. When you believe you are your fear, you shrink. But when you watch them with awareness, they lose their grip.
Meditation is the doorway to this witnessing state. It is the gentle return to white light. From there, every color becomes beautiful. Every role becomes a celebration. This is the true spirit of Holi—not just playing with colors outside, but discovering the light within from which all colors are born.
